… congratulations to this debut author for a work of fiction which has truly blown me away. I read a lot and yet it is rare that a book moves me so deeply or makes me think so deeply. The Healing has done just that… Margetts is a skilled writer with a true gift for words – that is apparent on every page of this, her first, novel. She uses words to good effect to draw the reader in and guide them through the highs and lows of emotionsThis book plays a beautiful melody with the heartstrings and leaves the reader pondering on its meaning and message long after the book is finished. It will help any reader on their own journey of healing… Would I recommend this book – one hundred percent. I consider it to be one of the greats and it deserves a wide readership.

This is a gentle, yet very moving story of redemption and healing. I was extremely impressed by the author’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the time period, a knowledge which she wore lightly.

  Ruth Leigh

‘Their journey to Wales is beautifully told, in ways that will heal your soul and bring balm to your spirit. It’s a pilgrimage of hope, of restoration and renewal; of forgiveness and finding the way home. With a surprising ending… If you like historical fiction – or actually even if it’s not your chosen genre – I’m sure you’ll enjoy this gentle yet powerful story, wisely told and engagingly recounted.’

Penelope Swithinbank

I loved this book. The author took me on a journey with the main characters as they left France and travelled thorough Medieval Wales. The descriptions were so clear, I could see the places in my minds eye. The characters were warm and believable and I engaged increasingly with Phillip, the damaged soldier with a sad past. It was a sensitively told tale of redemption and restoration. A book which left me with a lump in my throat, and pointed me to a God who cares about us as individuals.’

Karen Dolan- Smith

… Philip learns more, and we learn with him. Forgiveness…Such a hard concept, and so well described in this book. His struggle is beautifully depicted, with no easy solutions or glib answers in The Healing! The last few pages I read extra slowly, not wanting the story to end! It felt like saying goodbye to friends, and I wanted to know more about the characters we had met.’

Maressa Mortimer

The book has the feel of a spiritual classic – a damaged, world-weary character meets a wise mentor who with gentleness and goodness opens up to him a new way of seeing the world and his place in it.’

I could not find the words to express my thankfulness to the author for writing such a beautiful book. Therefore I am using a quote from the Bible as it sums up my feelings. ‘ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.’
Philippians 4:8 King James Version
